The community of St. Charles Borromeo parish in Livermore celebrated our patron saint's feastday on Sunday November 8 with a Mass and potluck. The Mass started with a procession that included flags from maybe 50 of the world's nations, dancers, incense, and the new portrait of St. Charles carried in by Mary Kay. Three former and present pastors presided. The painting and painter were blessed by Fr. Bob Mendonca and the congregation. Glimpses into the life and work of Charles Borromeo were given several times during the Mass.
Afterward there was a potluck in which people were encouraged to bring their native ethnic food. I made a shoo fly pie to represent my Pennsylvania heritage.
